Coffee Character: Rich full body, dark chocolate, hints of citrus

About the Origin
The coffee is grown in Sidamo, southern Ethiopia. Sidamo is situated in the famous Great Rift Valley
that runs through Ethiopia and Kenya. The countryside in this area is generally fertile, lush and
Nestles in the Oromia rain catchment are where 65% of the country’s coffee-growing land is located,
the Sidamo region is ideally located for agricultural production. The high altitudes at which this
coffee is grown give the bean a naturally high density and contribute to its unique flavour notes of
wine and chocolate, and provides the bright, crisp, citrus acidity.
The coffee is sourced from many smallholder farms – which are essentially families that have coffee
trees on their land.
These families generally have a plot size of about 1.5ha each and the coffee they harvest is collected
together at a central mill and processed together resulting in a blend that is a unique expression of
the complexity of the horticulture in the surrounding area.
There is no use of pesticides and chemicals on this coffee, it is naturally organic.

  • Ivanhoe
  • PEACE Farm! Yarra Junction

We also have members in Yarra Glen, Upwey and Box hill and some of our members take turns to pick up boxes from the closest hub or from the farm. In many cases we are only able to do what we do because members are helping us with distribution. Community Supported Agriculture in action!
